E5 Four new scenarios of future health care

Thursday 1 September 2016
14:30-17:30
Hilton Buenos Aires : Atlantico A & B, 3 hours

Organised by the FIP Community Pharmacy Section and the FIP Hospital Pharmacy Section

Introduction

Health care is changing: exploding globalisation of health care; health care is becoming more and

more patient-focused; increasing gaps in health care services between developing and developed countries; economical constraints affecting the health care system; empowered and more and more demanding patients, etc.

Which scenarios are we going to meet in the future? How will demographic changes, financial challenges and technology affect us? And where do we find pharmacy in these scenarios? Reviewing, understanding and coping with these trends, changes and challenges, pharmacy can make informed strategic decisions to influence developments for the benefit of patients.

The session will include a discussion of the following questions:

Customer: Who are our customers and what will be their primary job to be done in 2020?

Pharmacy: How can hospital and community pharmacy increase cooperation?

Context: What are the catalysts that will create opportunities to overcome barriers to getting the job done?

Leadership: What are the leadership capabilities to enable and drive this change? What will be the future role for community and hospital pharmacy?

Learning objectives
At the conclusion this knowledge-based session, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the four scenarios of pharmacy development at local, regional or national level
  2. Outline a model of learning used when working with scenario planning
  3. Identify actual trends and challenges affecting the health care system and pharmacy
  4. Identify future opportunities for community and hospital pharmacy.
